HOLMES INSTITUTE ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Applications for entrance to the Holmes Institute are distributed through each Regional Center. Students may be admitted throughout the year. The Regional Dean gives final approval of the application for admission. For students applying for Certificated Student Status, the Deans’ Council will review the information and make the final admission determination.

Minimum Qualifications of Applicants:

The individual must submit all of the following documents as part of the application:

  1. Copy of Religious Science Practitioner License or a letter documenting that licensing will be completed within twelve (12) months.
  2. A letter verifying current, active United Centers for Spiritual Living membership from a minister or Board President.
  3. Copy of diploma from an accredited college or university, or proof of projected bachelors degree to be completed within one year.
  4. Application for a criminal background check that includes a financial credit report
  5. Official transcripts submitted in an envelope sealed by the Institution sent to Holmes Institute.
  6. Three letters of reference: One from your current minister, one from a Professional Practitioner, and from a person familiar with your performance in another professional or related activity.  All references are sent to the Regional Center by the evaluator.

Paneling of Applicants:
An entrance panel is included in the application process. An oral interview with a panel of ministers must be completed before a student is officially admitted to Holmes Institute.

Certificated Studies Program:
Holmes Institute has determined that, in special cases when an applicant does not meet all the admission requirements for the Master’s Program, applicants may apply for the Certificate in Consciousness Studies Program. This application must be approved by a consensus of the Deans’ Council.  Applicants may request guidelines from a Regional Dean or Registrar.

Unon acceptance, students are required to accept an enrollment agreement each quarter before enrolling for classes.

 
 
 

Transfer of Credits Policy

 
     
 

Holmes Institute curriculum is specifically designed for in-depth study and preparation for spiritual leadership.  Transferring courses is done infrequently and on an individual basis.  During the first year of study only, a student may submit requests to transfer a maximum of four (4) classes based upon equivalent graduate level study, unquestionable expertise or experience.  This request must include transcripts, syllabi or other supporting documents of previous work or study.  In some cases, the applicant will be asked to take a challenge exam to be exempt from the class.  These decisions are at the sole discretion of the Regional Dean.  Requests for transfers of 5 or more courses must be referred to the Deans’ Council.

Holmes Institute does not give credit for prior non-school learning.
