Assessment Experience #1: First Essay paper: Your essay is in three parts. For the first part, you are to demonstrate your understanding of whole brain functioning, intuitive voice, and intuition in action by writing a description of what each means, key factors to be considered, and a rationale for how each is of value to individuals and society. The second part is a two or three page application of the information to your own life. Over the next THREE WEEKS, you will document how your intuitive voice is communicating to you by recording your answers to the following three parts. A) Record two examples of any intuitive experience which is also called a hunch, gut feeling or premonition. I am not interested in something that happened years ago but in your experiences over a current 3 week period. For example, did you have a hunch to get off the freeway and later learn there was a terrible accident up ahead which would have delayed you indefinitely? Or, did you suddenly have a hunch to call a friend and then find out they needed immediate help. B) For the same three week period, identify how your five senses are physically extended to provide intuitive input. For example, do you hear a voice, have a picture pop into your head, get a feel for the situation, get a bad taste or smell? Indicate what language reveals how you receive intuitive information from your senses. Do you say, I get a feel for the situation, or, I see what you mean or can't hear what you are saying. C) Activate your intuitive yes/no button to resolve two pressing concerns. Record both concerns and show how you resolved the problem intuitively. First check in with your senses (physical channel) and then go to the mental, emotional and spiritual channels to receive further validation. The Third Part: Write the answers to both of these questions: How would you explain or define intuition to someone who is not taking this course? Ask two people you know for their explanation or definition of intuition. How do the definitions compare or differ?
Please type your completed paper into no more than seven pages. Email submission of your papers is preferred. Submit to powerhunch@aol.com by no later than Monday, July 23, 2007 . |

| Course Outline - Weeks 6 through 10 |

Objective #5: Students will learn how to alleviate stress in order to function more optimally in their everyday affairs.
Objective #6: Students will identify how intuition can be used to cope during transitional times.

| |
| Required Reading : Peirce - Chapters 7-10 |
| |
Emery - Chapters 5-8, 10 |
| |
| Lecture Tapes: Listen to tape lectures 6-10 |
| |
Assessment Experience: Part One: Define and describe what it means to:
|
- pose an issue;
- be centered;
- be receptive;
- elicit imagery;
- decipher the imagery;
- incubate;
- go deeper;
- implement intuitive input
|
| |
Part Two: Apply the Powershift Method to two issues (problems, decisions, perspectives). Let the first focus on a work or career issue, and the second Powershift on a relationship issue. To review this formula, see pages 46 in the text. For each issue, specify what you did for each step. 1) Pose your problem or issue in a question. 2) How did you become centered? 3) Which receptivity exercise did you use? 4) What imagery did you elicit? 5) Show how you interpreted the imagery (i.e. amplification diagram). 6) Did you take time out for incubation? 7)Did any further interpretation surface? 8) How did you implement the intuitive input? Put each issue on a separate page. If you need 2-3 pages for an issue, that is fine. Then start your new problem on the next page.
Part Three: Apply the Intuitive Dream Interpretation Methodto one (or two if you choose) dream(s). To review this formula, see page 94 in the text. First, Describe the dream. Second, Give the dream a title, become centered and receptive, identify the major symbols, interpret these symbols, engage the symbol artistically, and implement your dream discovery. If you use more than one dream, put the second on a separate page. The 6-10 page paper should be typed and double spaced. Please submit your papers by email to powerhunch@aol.com.
Your final assessment experience must be submitted on or before August 27, 2007. |

| Guidelines for Success |
- Just like eating an elephant, take it one bite at a time. Schedule reading and tape listening time in segments.
- Talk to another student or someone else about what you have just read or heard. Can you express the ideas clearly? Can you apply the concepts to your work and personal life?
- Strive to be a whole brain thinker incorporating both intuition and logic into all your decision-making activities.
- Strengthen your intuition so it can be used regularly and reliably, and complete the practice exercises in both textbooks. Intuition is developed through listening and awareness. So, listen carefully and be aware of the whispers as well as the shouts that come through to you.
- Schedule yourself so you have ample time to complete each assignment.
- Reread your assessment before submitting and ask, “Are my ideas clearly expressed? Have I proofed the paper and corrected the typos and errors?”
- Adapt the credo, “This course is useful and enlightening.”
- Have fun with the reading and assessments. Levity is the key to opening the intuitive mind.
* Students can expect letter grades to drop by one half letter grade for each week of lateness, if assessment is not received by published due date. The following weight from each assessment will determine the final course grade: |
